Conference in Rovna-September 4th-6th

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

We trust and pray that you are rejoicing in the hope that you have in Christ. You are receiving this letter because over the last eight years you have taken part in a simple church conference or training event or you have been a visitor to the simple church website.

Certainly there is a wide array of people who will read this letter. Some of you have a strong interest in what is happening and what is planned among simple churches. Others of you may have little to no interest. Regardless we greet you with the love, grace, peace, and hope that we share in Christ. From the time we started the website, offered our first training event, and published our first book there has been an underlying desire to stay true to what Paul expressed so clearly to the church in Phillipi:

7But whatever were gains to me I now consider loss for the sake of Christ. 8What is more, I consider everything a loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them garbage, that I may gain Christ 9and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ—the righteousness that comes from God on the basis of faith.

Phillipians 3:7-9

Particularly in the early days, some of our articles made strong comparisons between more traditional and simpler approaches to ministry. However, our goal has never been to focus on a model of ministry. Instead, we have hoped to challenge and stir our thinking( as stated on the front page of the website- //tinyurl.com/qd8gw3s) towards biblical principles that help us realize in practice: Christ-focused churches, the headship of Jesus, the priesthood of all believers, the making of disciples, and the experience of 24/7 life in the kingdom of God.

We have never formally organized and have no intention of doing so. We simply want to provide training resources and to connect people of like heart and mind, so that they can learn from and encourage one another. In light of that, some of the brothers and sisters in Ukraine are organizing a conference from Friday, September 4th-Sunday, September 6th in Rivna. This conference is open to people from any country. The main theme will be Hearing from God and Walking in Obedience to Him: Individually and as a Church. As has been our custom, the conference will take place in a very discussion oriented format.

Later in July, we will send exact details of the conference, but right now we are trying to get a rough estimate of how many people are interested in participating. You do not have to commit at this point, but if you think you and some people from your church would like to participate, can you please send us your name, the city where you are from, and how many people you think may be interested in attending from your church? The approximate cost will be $25.

If possible, please give an initial response before July 22nd, so we can make sure we have rented the right size facilities for our conference.

____ If possible, some people from our church would like to attend this conference.
_____ Approximate # of participants.

____ We know that we are unable to participate in this conference.

    About the Site

All across the world, people are gathering in small groups to serve and worship God, be family, and encourage and affect each others lives. These gatherings are called by many names including simple church, organic church, and house church. Whatever you call it, the people involved value incarnational ministry to the lost, living radically for Jesus and each other, and are willing to get rid of anything that gets in the way of being fully devoted followers of Christ.
